MIROKU - a cozy machiya house at the foot of Shimogamo Shrine
MIROKU is a small machiya (traditional house) located in the peaceful area near from Shimogamo Shrine, the world heritage.
Shimogamo shrine is surrounded with Tadashuno-mori forest and it gives the area tranquil atmosphere.
The area is is in the delta shaped with two rivers; the Kamogawa river and the Takanogawa river.
Those two rivers get together as the Kamogawa river at Demachiyanagi, the place to relax and refresh for the local people.
MIROKU can be used by up to 3 persons.
Inside of the house is tidy and clean but still with the touch of the cultural history of the old house in the area.
There is a irori stove at the riving room.
Irori is Japanes traditional stove in the first picture. It is usually used with hot charcoal to keep water in a tea kettle hot or to get warm when it’s cold.
Although the house is small, it has a Japanese garden making you feel the season.
The area MIROKU locates has very good access to the nature of the forest, the rivers and the river bank.
It’s also close to Doshisya university and Kyoto university. You will the town is lively if you bike around.
If you prefer to stay feeling the local life in Kyoto, MIROKU would make your time the best.
